After a busy year of training and professional development, the UCRH Simulation Centre team is already looking ahead to 2027, with a new team member joining some familiar faces.
Senior Operations Officer Shay Kelly (pictured centre) has recently joined UCRH, working alongside Clinical Skills Educator Rebecca Austin (left) and Simulation Centre Admin Officer Tara Bayles (right) to support the Centre’s education and training activities.
Shay brings more than 25 years’ experience across operations, workforce development, program management and service delivery in the government, community services and health and wellbeing sectors.
She also brings extensive experience in the Northern Rivers and a strong background in supporting multidisciplinary teams, workforce coordination and organisational improvement.
Together, Shay, Bec and Tara form the core Simulation Centre team, supported by educators who bring additional clinical and specialist expertise to specific courses and workshops.
Supporting our region’s health workforce
Based in the heart of Lismore’s health precinct, the UCRH Simulation Centre provides simulation education and professional development for current and future health professionals.
Its programs provide opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in realistic clinical environments, with training available across a range of areas for the region’s health workforce. The Centre can also work with health services, practices and other organisations to develop training tailored to particular workforce needs.
With planning for 2027 underway, the team is looking forward to another year of courses and workshops supporting health professionals across the Northern Rivers.
And they’re keen to hear from the people those programs are designed for.

Come and meet the team
Want to see the Simulation Centre up close? Our Community Open Day on Tuesday 17 November, from 9am to 1pm, is the perfect opportunity to meet Shay, Bec and Tara and see some of our simulation facilities in action.
The Open Day is free and open to the whole community, with activities, food and coffee, and the opportunity to meet people from UCRH and organisations we work with across the region.

Can’t make it on the day? Some of our remaining 2026 courses are already fully booked, but there are still places available in selected courses and workshops. See what’s coming up and book your place via our events calendar.
