Helping grow the future rural health workforce development is a big part UCRH’s role, which is why we’re excited to see Sarah Crook, UCRH Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator, appointed to a new national leadership group focused on allied health clinical education.
Sarah Crook (pictured right) has been appointed to the Leadership Group of the Allied Health Clinical Education Community of Practice, hosted by the Australian Council of Deans of Health Sciences. The national network has been created to strengthen clinical education across Australian universities and bring together people working in placements, supervision, simulation and workforce development.
The appointment follows a highly competitive selection process, with expressions of interest submitted from across the sector. Membership was chosen to ensure a mix of skills, experience and perspectives, including strong representation from rural and regional Australia.
UCRH’s contribution to the new Community of Practice doesn’t stop there. Sarah Miles (pictured left), Clinical Educator in Occupational Therapy and Team Leader of Clinical Education (Allied Health), has also been appointed as a Leadership Fellow within the Community of Practice. Leadership Fellows support the work of the Leadership Group by contributing to projects, priority initiatives and workstreams that help shape the future of allied health clinical education across Australia.
For UCRH, these appointments mean local experience and rural perspectives will help inform national conversations about how future allied health professionals are trained, bringing an important perspective to a range of workforce and education challenges.
The Community of Practice will support collaboration between universities, encourage the sharing of ideas and resources, and help strengthen allied health education across the country.
The appointments also reflect UCRH’s strong contribution to education and workforce development, with our educators continuing to play an active role in shaping the future of rural health education both locally and nationally.
