Exploring ways to promote research that integrates a diversity of disciplines was the focus of the recent and fourth annual Sustainability, Climate, and Health Collaboration at the University of Sydney.
UCRH Research Fellow Rebecca McNaught was one of the organisers of the gathering, which saw around 50 people come together in-person and online.
The event focus on solution-based research around health, climate, environment and sustainability. Presentations that featured looked at topics as broad as the linkages between disaster vulnerability and housing; addressing sexual and reproductive rights in crisis settings; heatwave forecasting; and monitoring transport emissions for school children.
Key takeaways from the day included the importance of industry engagement and the value (and steps needed) to establishing coalitions for change.
The event was coordinated by an organising committee which included representatives from the University’s School of Public Health, Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics and the Sydney Environment Institute.
