Last week the annual North Coast Medical Education Collaboration face-to-face meeting took place at Invercauld House, Goonellabah.
Since 2007 we have delivered the North Coast Medical Education Collaboration between the Universities of Wollongong, Western Sydney and Sydney to provide placements for long stay medical students in addition to our shorter stay students.
This year’s meeting was attended by the Deans of Medicine and staff from the University of Sydney, University of Wollongong, and Western Sydney University, along with representatives from NNSWLHD and Healthy North Coast.
Highlights included insightful discussions on the Aboriginal Health programs of the three universities, Indigenous-led research projects at the UCRH, a panel session focusing on professionalism featuring student representatives from each university, an important discussion on GP’s and community health, and a session on inter-professional learning.
The meeting showcased the collaboration and generated enthusiasm for the future directions of the program.
