We build local research leadership through research that canvasses the health care needs of rural communities around the country.
We engage with policy makers, health professionals and clinicians to enhance the relevance of our research and the application our work in community settings.
Our researchers have gained a national and international reputation, with funding support regularly received from major government agencies and support bodies. We are proud to lead two major National Health and Medical Research Council funded projects, STAUNCH (focused on strengthening First Nation’s capacity for self-governance) and HeLP (focused on finding the best strategies to support people with chronic pain and lifestyle challenges to manage their health).
To support capacity in the Northern Rivers, we also supervise postgraduate research students and provide methodological support to rural practitioners undertaking research.
You can read about all our research projects within each of our eight core research streams here.Â
If you are interested in undertaking research, we often have opportunities available to join our team working on projects and these will also be listed on the Our People page. If you are interested in undertaking a higher degree research project or other research please contact us to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
