Staff of the UCRH recently participated in a “Healthy Body at Work” campaign where staff were encouraged to “sit less”, “walk more” and “sleep well”.
The program was judged a great success and as a result a weekly lunch time boot camp session is now available for staff on a user-pays basis. Trainers from Elite Force Fitness run a fitness session every Tuesday lunchtime on the grounds of the UCRH where staff and students are put through their paces with a range of strength and cardio exercises.
The boot camp program has been running for two months and is set to continue as the feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants have reported that not only has their fitness improved, but they have noticed that energy levels in the afternoon after training have increased. Others have commented that it is a fun way to get away from the desk and interact with colleagues in a different setting.
There are spots available and open to colleagues and friends of the UCRH. Contact Linda Pike on [email protected] for more details.
