Good healthcare starts with a confident workforce. Through a new partnership with Healthy North Coast, UCRH is delivering the Clinical Skills & Telehealth Trainer Program, helping aged care nurses build practical skills they can take straight back to their workplace.
The program supports rural health workforce development by giving educators and clinical leaders the tools, confidence and resources to train others in their organisation. Participants will learn how to strengthen clinical decision-making, improve communication, use telehealth effectively and respond early when a resident’s health begins to deteriorate.
Running across the North Coast over coming months, the program combines hands-on workshops with optional one-on-one coaching and a ready-to-use facilitator resource kit. Sessions are scheduled for Lismore, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Ballina, Clarence Valley, Clarence Coast and Coffs Harbour, with additional locations to be confirmed.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, the workshops use realistic scenarios, simulation activities and practical discussions that reflect the challenges nurses face every day. Participants will leave with tools they can use immediately to support their teams and strengthen the quality of care in their service.
The program highlights what can be achieved when regional organisations work together to address local workforce needs. By combining Healthy North Coast’s investment in workforce capability with UCRH’s expertise in education, training and simulation-based learning, the partnership is helping aged care services develop skills closer to home.
Places are now open for upcoming sessions, and early expressions of interest are encouraged.
Whether you’re leading a team, supporting staff development or looking to strengthen telehealth and clinical education in your workplace, this is an opportunity to gain practical skills, connect with peers and help build a stronger aged care workforce across regional, rural and remote communities.
