At UCRH, we believe in research that makes a real difference, and with that in mind, we are proud to share that UCRH-based researcher and Daffodil Centre tobacco research lead, Professor Megan Passey, is one of the authors of a powerful editorial recently published in Nicotine and Tobacco Research.
The editorial responds to recent decisions in the United States that have impacted funding for tobacco and nicotine research and key public health agencies. These changes are already having an impact, not just in the US, but around the world, with the potential to affect decades of progress in reducing smoking and saving lives.
Professor Passey and her co-authors have strong views on these changes. They have voiced their thoughts on the importance of research that helps us understand why people still use tobacco, how it harms health, and what we can do to prevent tobacco-related deaths. It’s a reminder that even though we’ve come a long way, there’s still so much more to learn, especially with new products hitting the market all the time.
At UCRH, we’re committed to supporting research that improves health outcomes for our communities, and that includes tackling tough issues like tobacco use.
