Chronic, low grade Inflammation is a part of many age-related degenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. Our research aims to discover novel anti-inflammatory drugs from herbs and spices including tropical rainforest plants. After initial testing of the extracts, we identify active compounds by bioactivity guided purification and chemical analysis. Furthermore, we are testing the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of the compounds in a mouse model of chronic brain inflammation.
