In 2026, UCRH marks 25 years of working alongside rural and regional communities to improve health equity. Based in the Northern Rivers of NSW, UCRH is a collaborative academic hub focused on rural health education, research and workforce development. For 25 years, we have trained future health professionals, supported the current workforce and worked in partnership with communities to improve health outcomes across rural and regional Australia.
From our beginnings as a small rural education hub to our role today as a trusted partner for universities, health services, community organisations and government, this anniversary is both a moment to reflect and an opportunity to look ahead.
Throughout 2026, UCRH will host a year-long program of events and activities celebrating our history, recognising the people and partnerships that have shaped us, and exploring what the next chapter of rural health could look like for the Northern Rivers and beyond.

A key highlight will be Past, Present, Future in September, a flagship celebration bringing together UCRH alumni, former staff, partners, collaborators and the wider community to reflect on 25 years of impact and to share ideas for the future of rural health.
The anniversary program will also include storytelling, appreciation and engagement activities throughout the year, creating opportunities for people to reconnect with UCRH and with each other.
Our 25 year story is made up of many journeys.

Share yours by reflecting on your past connection to UCRH, its place in your present, and your hopes for the future of rural health.

Whether you studied, worked, partnered or collaborated with UCRH, our 25th anniversary is a chance to reconnect with a community that helped shape your rural health journey.

This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of UCRH’s story.Â
