Last week members of UCRH’s allied health team were awarded the 2024 Diana Maloney Service Recognition Award.
The team – all the professional and academic staff involved in working with and supporting speech pathology students on placement at UCRH – were recogised as part of Service Recognition Awards at the University of Sydney’s School of Health Sciences.
The award recognises those health professionals and educators who embody the values and practices of one of Australia’s speech pathology’s pioneers, Mrs Diana (Di) Maloney. Di is remembered as someone with immense care and concern for our patients and her colleagues and students. In particular, the award acknowledges Di’s care for the whole person, her counselling and education skills and her leadership in person-centred care and clinical education. Her extensive experience as a clinical educator and counsellor influenced generations of speech pathology clinicians and clinical educators. Diana Maloney was a generous and wise clinical educator who put the person she was working with, be it client, student or colleague at the centre of her work.
The UCRH team were called out for their dedication to high quality practice education outcomes and for the student experiences provided to speech pathology students.
Team members Sarah Miles, Sally Howard and Erika Campbell accepted the award on behalf of UCRH (pictured above with members of Di’s family and Associate Professor Kimberley Docking Head of Discipline, Speech Pathology and Sarah Nash Health Professions Lead, Speech Pathology).
Congratulations everyone!
