Course Overview

Session 4 of 4 sessions being offered to Aboriginal Health Workers.

AMS and AHS staff are fully subsidised by NSWRDN

LHD staff are partially subsided by NSWRDN and the course fee for the participant is $195 per session.

Participants can choose to attend any number of sessions.

Course Overview
This two-day ALS Program is suitable for health professionals in the provision of adult advanced life support in a clinical setting. Accredited by the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses (ACCCN) and based on the latest 2016 Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, the program includes a comprehensive Adult ALS manual, access to an E-learning quiz, plus a 2-day interactive workshop including assessment and certification.

Target Audience
Registered nurses, medical officers and paramedical staff who:

  • Require ALS Certification
  • Are new to Emergency, Intensive Care, Anaesthetics, Recovery or High-Dependency
  • Work in small facilities with limited medical cover

Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • Pharmacology
  • Legal and ethical
  • Electrical therapy
  • Post resuscitation care
  • Advanced airway management
  • Adult anatomy & physiology
  • BLS & ALS algorithms and principles
